Our Initiatives

Teacher preparation is at the heart of our efforts. By equipping teachers with the skill sets and confidence to provide high-quality CS education, the UF College of Education is transforming the state’s capacity to foster its technology economy and positioning Florida to meet the demands of current and future employers. We have created the following comprehensive suite of seamless options for teachers to engage in CS education learning.

Microcredentialing in CS Education

Our microcredentialing program leads to a deeper understanding of CS education and how it intersects with a variety of K-12 subjects. The program is open to any pre-service teacher enrolled at a Florida institution of higher education.

CS Education Certification Program

The UF Computer Science K-12 Teaching Graduate Certificate is a 12-credit hour, two semester, fully online, job-embedded program consisting of four courses. Your certificate will also provide you 12 credit hours to apply toward an Online MAE or Online Ed.D. degree at the University of Florida.

CS integration into existing University courses

In partnership with faculty across UF, we are working to integrate CS Education across a variety of content areas to demonstrate the reach of computer science and to prepare future teachers to do the same in their classrooms.

K-12 CS FTCE Teacher Certification Exam Preparation

CS Everyone has developed a platform to help teachers studying for the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE) Computer Science K-12 certification examination. Three practice assessments (pre, mid, and post) were carefully crafted by a qualified group of certified Florida teachers using rigorous development procedures led by researchers at the University of Florida.
